Two main families: stainless steel for many waterproof and flatback styles, and brass with PVD (including platinum and 14k gold PVD) for many everyday pieces. Each product page lists the exact base and finish.

It depends on the piece. Natural steel waterproof styles: shower and swim with confidence. Gold PVD: fine for everyday splash and shower; skip long soaks in saltwater, chlorine, or harsh chemicals. Many brass + PVD pieces are splash- and sweat-resistant rather than fully waterproof.

• Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
